Here's what we were working with - an old, broken-down pathway between the house and pool area that had seen better days. We dug the whole thing out, pulled the existing slabs, and started from scratch. No shortcuts. That's how you end up with a patio that holds up long-term instead of one that's shifting and cracking two years later.

The base work is where it all starts. Before a single paver goes down, the ground gets properly excavated, graded, and packed with compacted gravel. It's not glamorous work, but it's the difference between a patio that stays level and one that turns into a tripping hazard. We use a skid steer to handle the heavy lifting and levels throughout to keep everything dialed in.

Once the base was solid, the pavers went in with a clean layout that connects the back door all the way to the pool area. The design uses a mix of large-format field pavers with a contrasting border pattern - structured but not rigid. The whole thing flows naturally with how the yard is set up, giving the space a clear path and a defined gathering area that wasn't really there before.

What you end up with is a backyard that actually works. There's a clear connection from the house to the pool, more usable surface for seating and entertaining, and a finished look that holds up in every kind of weather. Good hardscape installation isn't just about laying pavers - it's about making the whole outdoor space feel intentional.

The night shots tell the rest of the story. Landscape lighting along the paver edges lights up the path and gives the whole backyard a finished, polished feel well after the sun goes down. A well-built patio extends how long you can actually enjoy your outdoor space - and that's exactly the point.
