Here's what neglected beds actually look like before we get to work - old rock sitting in the soil, overgrown arborvitae that had long outgrown their space, and debris packed up against the foundation. It's the kind of thing you stop noticing after a while, but it makes a big difference in how the whole property reads from the street.

We pulled everything out. The arborvitae came down, the old rock and sod were removed, and we got the beds down to a clean slate. That prep work is the part most people don't see, but it's what makes the finished product actually last. Skipping it just buries the problem.

Once the beds were cleared and edged out properly, we laid fresh dark mulch throughout - front and back. The difference it makes against the white siding is immediate. Clean lines, healthy beds, and the kind of curb appeal that holds up all season without a lot of maintenance on your end.

The back of the house got the same treatment. What was a bare, leaf-cluttered strip along the foundation is now a defined, mulched bed that ties the whole yard together. It's one of those details that seems small until you see it done right.

Plant installation is already planned for the fall, which is the smart way to approach a job like this. Get the beds built correctly first, then put the right plants in at the right time. That's how you end up with a yard that looks intentional - not just maintained.
